Reading log, spring

· Notes · books

What I read this spring, one line each:

  • The Soul of a New Machine — the best book about engineering deadlines ever written, and nobody in it uses a version control system.
  • The Design of Everyday Things — I now notice every door that needs a sign, which is most doors.
  • A Pattern Language — supposedly about architecture; actually about why some places feel right. Applies alarmingly well to code.

No summary field in this one's frontmatter, on purpose — the feed blurb you just read was extracted from the first paragraph automatically.
